HSR.4B PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

HSR works using active microwave technology and image analysis within the inspection area:
  1. In reflection mode, HSR scans the human body using scattered and reflected microwave signals. It reconstructs an image and analyzes the dielectric properties of detected objects to identify potential explosive devices (EDs).
  2. In transmission mode, microwaves pass directly between the two pillars as a person walks through. This provides additional data on items carried on the body or in backpacks.
HSR also includes passive magnetic sensors to detect metal objects.
The system has two built-in front cameras to monitor movement within the inspection zone, and one side camera on a pillar. If a suspicious object is detected, the side camera captures a photo as the person exits the portal.
When a threat is identified, an alert is sent to the operator’s computer via the HSR Client software. The alert includes a photo of the person and an estimated location of the object on the body. The warning is supported by a sound or vibration to get the operator’s attention.
